Medium Membership — is it worth it?

My thoughts on Medium Membership

I became a Medium member a little over a month ago after Duke Of Chaos mentioned me in a locked story of his.

Let me rephrase that — I became a paid Medium member a little over a month ago. I’ve always considered myself a Medium member, but I never paid for it until I tried out the member benefits for a full month.

Is it worth it? Yes! Here are a few reasons why:

You get access to more stories.

This is the obvious one. And the stories you can access as a paid Medium member are written a lot better than those not behind the paywall. They also appear to be on more diverse topics.

You get more followers.

I don’t know if I’m getting more followers because I’m a paid Medium member, or just because I’m trying to post more frequently on Medium, but it seems like every day I get a few more followers. And it’s only happened since I started my paid Medium membership.

Yes, those are the only two benefits, but to me they’re big. If you enjoy reading stories on Medium, and especially if you enjoy writing stories on Medium, you should consider trying out the paid membership. True, there are ways to read more than three locked stories a month, but they don’t allow you to save the posts by any means that I know of. At least as a paid Medium member, I can read others’ locked posts and save them to Evernote if I want to.

If you enjoyed this story, please give it a clap. If you’ve had any experiences with Medium membership that you’d like to share, please feel free to comment below.

I started writing in elementary school and never stopped. I enjoy sharing stories about my hard-learned life lessons and writing advice.
