Reflections on 43
What I Accomplished Last Year and What I Want to Accomplish This Year

Well, my birthday is here again. As I do every April, I started getting a bit anxious about this day (well, that and the tax deadline). One of the unique things about my birthday falling on April 30, is that it falls almost exactly one third of the way through the year. So after 120 days, I get to reflect again on what I’ve accomplished since I turned whatever age I was the previous year — 43 in this case.
Last year I made a long list of the things I’d accomplished in my life. I’m not going to bore you with that list again, you can go back and read it here if you want to. This past year though, my biggest accomplishment was that my husband and I moved into our very first house as homeowners — those of you who follow me probably read my posts about that. In addition, I also started ramping up my writing and editing business a little — this has been more of a recent development.
As I turn 44, I want to start ramping up my writing and editing business even more. I’ve been working through Dave Schools’ Udemy course on how to increase writing revenue. He covers a lot of information I already know of course, because I’ve been writing for a long time. But he also talks about a few topics I don’t know much about, and I’m starting to get to those now — interviewing people and pitching publications, and also writing whitepapers and self-publishing physical books. I’ll be interested to see if the skills I learn in this course help me increase my writing income. I’ll definitely be sure to post updates as I make progress.
Happy Birthday to me. Here’s to a great year.
