Reflections on My Future Plans
I’ve spent the past few days talking about the things I accomplished in the first 42 years of my life. Today I wanted to talk about some of the goals I have for the future.
I set a few goals for this year — I wanted to reduce my hours at my current full-time job so I can spend more time doing other things I like doing (like writing). I also wanted (well both my husband and I wanted) to buy a house. My third goal was to get back to playing piano — I took piano lessons when I was in middle and high school. I really enjoyed playing, but I stopped after I went to college. So far only one of those goals is going to be realized in the very near future here — Kevin and I are in the process of buying our first house. How do I plan to accomplish the others? I’m not sure, yet, but I do have some thoughts
Getting back to playing piano
Once Kevin and I move into the new house (sometime in July, hopefully) I want to find a way to make space in it for at least a digital piano. I want to find one that maybe has a tutor built into it so I can systematically start re-learning some of what I know I forgot in the twenty or so years since I last played. I’m also going to need to find a way to make time to practice.
Reducing my hours at Apptical
This could be a bit trickier, especially since Kevin and I are moving into a new house. I actually recently bought Quicken so that I can keep track of our expenses. I want to use that to try to find a way to reduce our expenses in different areas so that I can reduce my hours at Apptical. Another thing is, once we move Kevin does want to try to find a job doing something else where he can make more money, so eventually I may be able to quit working at Apptical all together and just focus on stuff I actually enjoy doing.
That’s it for my goals for this year — I will be sure to post updates as things develop. You can also read my blog posts on my blog, the Erica Upgrade Project.
