Started Working on a Submission For a Writing Contest!
And Other Recent Accomplishments

It’s been a while since I posted an update, so I figured it was time. I’ve accomplished quite a bit lately, both with work and in my personal life. Take a look:
Wrote a rough draft of a memoir about my mother.
I want to enter it a writing contest that Chicken Soup for the Soul is running. They’re accepting submissions for a number of different books they’re putting together, and one of the topics, “Stories About My Mother” interested me.
The story isn’t due until July, so I’m taking my time editing it. I wrote it in Draft and submitted it to a few people to get feedback on it. I thought about posting the story here to get reactions, but Chicken Soup for the Soul’s guidelines state that stories can’t be published anywhere else.
Ordered Christmas gifts for my family.
I had a hard time deciding what to buy a few of my family members. I had picked out gifts for a few of them, but some of them sold out before I actually placed the order. I may buy a few more things for my husband later if I get other ideas, however.
Wrote out and sent out Christmas cards to my family and friends.
Fort he past few years, I’ve made my own Christmas cards to send out to family and friends, because I had a lot of people to send them to. Making my own is time-consuming though, so I decided to go back to buying a bulk amount of Christmas cards and writing them out by hand, especially now that I’m sending out fewer Christmas cards. I made address labels using a Brother P-Touch label maker I bought last year at my husband’s suggestion, and that worked great.
Read a little more of “Sully: My Search for What Really Matters,” and “The Magic”
If you’ve seen the movie “Sully” with Tom Hanks, or even if you just enjoy books about flying, you will love “Sully: My Search for What Really Matters.” In the book, Captain Sullenberger not only talks about the disaster, but also about how he got started as a pilot, and about more personal issues, like how his flying affects his family life. I’m about halfway done with that book. I’ve also been reading “The Magic” by Rhonda Byrne. That book is great to read at this time of year, because it’s all about thankfulness, and how you can use it in your life.
Looked at submitting entries into a few other writing contests
I found a few other websites that are running writing contests that I might enter. I’ll let you know if I enter them or not.
Did a little writing on Crowdcontent
I need to start building up my writing income again, so I found a few posts on Crowd Content to write. I’m also looking at starting to write for a few other websites.
Made A LOT of money at my day job.
My day job has been very busy between insurance agents wanting to build up their holiday bonuses and open enrollment ending, so my day job has been VERY busy. I’m hoping now that open enrollment is over that things will start slowing down just a little bit though.
That’s about all I’ve accomplished the past few weeks, I’ll post another update soon.
