What to Do When You Don’t Know What to Do
So for the past two weeks, I’ve lost at least a pound. This week though, I had a very unpleasant surprise when I stepped on the scale — I gained it all back, plus a little bit more. I have to tell you I was just a little bit upset. I looked at a few things though, and came up with a plan to get myself back on track.
I got fewer steps in this week
The first thing I noticed when I started looking at my stats for the past few weeks, was that the two weeks I lost weight I was getting a lot more steps in, probably because I was spending a lot of time unpacking stuff and getting it organized in my new house. Now, most of the unpacking is done, except for a few boxes, so I’m getting a lot fewer steps in.
I hadn’t been tracking my food intake
Since the Pact App was discontinued, I hadn’t been tracking my food intake as religiously as I was before. I probably screwed up by not doing that, because a lot of times tracking my food intake helps me see how many calories some of the foods I eat actually have.
My Plan to Get Back on Track
Find ways to get more steps into my day.
I’m going to look for ways to get more steps into my day, even on days when I’m more sedentary. I’ve considered getting myself a few indoor walking workout DVDs and doing those in addition to my regular workouts. I could also look for opportunities to get up from my desk and at least do stuff close to it, like organizing my office. That way when I get a call I’d at least be in the room to take it. I also want to find ways to be more active outside, even despite the fact that I’m allergic to bees and wasps.
Start tracking my food intake in MyFitnessPal again and log it in Beeminder.
I’m also going to start tracking my food intake in MyFitnessPal again at least five days a week, and record my calories manually in the Beeminder app. I wish Beeminder integrated with MyFitnessPal, or that IFTTT or Zapier did so I could track my calories automatically.
That’s my plan to try to get myself back on track with my weight loss — I’ll be sure to let you all know how it goes.
